Knee Pain / Runners Knee

Categories

Runners knee is an umbrella term to describe overuse injures experienced by runners or anyone who plays sports. It can include conditions such as patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), chondromalacia patellae, iliotibial band syndrome, tendinitis and more. By assessing the mechanics of the foot and lower limb we can discern whether poor mechanics are playing a role in the overuse of the injured structures. For instance a foot that rolls in (pes planus, flat foot, low arch etc) will have an internal rotation on the whole lower limb, therefore affecting the position of the knee.
