Toe walking (Kids)

Categories

Toe walking is when your child occasionally or always spends the majority of their time up on there tip toes with little or no heel contact.

This is never a normal part of the gait cycle.

It is caused by a number of reasons, each with it’s own treatment option.

Often Toe walking is habitual, copying another child or sibling, or trying to be taller, reaching for things up high etc.

There are a number of treatments including: Footwear modifications and simple stretches.

Sometimes toe walking is an indication of other more complex issues such as Cerebral Palsy or Congenital Calf Contracture.

One of our friendly Podiatrists should perform a thorough examination for any cases of a toe walking child.
